Kindergarten
The kindergarten learning program is developed using the Early Years Learning Framework – Belonging, Being and Becoming and the WA Kindergarten Curriculum Guidelines.
In Kindergarten our goal is to foster a love of learning in our students by providing them with motivation and agency to participate in learning experiences for years to come. Kindy provides children with opportunities to:
- Participate and express themselves through meaningful play and explicit learning experiences.
- Become more independent.
- Develop inquiry skills.
- Engage with technology in meaningful ways.
- Feel confident when participating in a range of activities.
- Develop oral language skills.
- Communicate clearly with peers and teachers.
- Develop positive relationships with peers and teachers.
- Develop gross motor and fine motor skills.
- Feel confident to observe and ask questions to extend their learning.
- Acquire the foundation skills for literacy and numeracy.
The kindergarten program provides a stimulating environment in which each child can feel happy and secure, with activities that are play-based, enabling students to learn by doing. A warm, positive atmosphere is fostered, allowing children time to interact and learn with their peers and adults in a happy, relaxed yet purposeful environment.
Each child is unique and develops at his/her own pace. Parents involvement is encouraged and valued.
