Digital Technology

South Perth Primary School

Digital Technology is a priority area in the South Perth Primary School’s Business Plan for 2015-2017. New innovation in digital technology provide students with exciting and challenging opportunities to apply the knowledge, understandings and skills acquired across all areas of the curriculum.

Digital Technology is a strand of the Technology Learning Area in the Western Australian Curriculum. Digital Technology Scope and Sequence for Pre Primary to Year 6 outlines the knowledge and understanding and processes and production skills students develop during their primary school years.

The school is well resourced in digital technology. During 2014 and 2015, we purchased 90 iPads for student use from Kindergarten to Year 6. The iPads are used as a tool to enhance student learning across the curriculum. Each classroom has an interactive whiteboard and the school has a computer lab with 35 desk top computers.

Interactive learning programs are used to support the students’ learning. Online learning programs such as Reading Eggs and Mathletics provide opportunities for the teachers to differentiate the curriculum to the needs of individual students. The whole school Mathematics and Spelling programs, Envision and Sound Waves, also provide teachers with online learning resources that support the learning program within the class.
