South Perth Primary School
South Perth Primary School has a strong emphasis on Physical Education offering experiential learning, with a curriculum that is relevant, engaging, contemporary, physically active, enjoyable and developmentally appropriate. Integral to Physical Education is the acquisition of movement skills, concepts and strategies that enable students to confidently and competently participate in a range of physical activities.
Daily Fitness for students in Year 1-6 is delivered by a motivated staff and embraced by the students. The focus is on exciting and rigorous activities to develop aerobic fitness and flexibility.
Physical Education lessons are also provided for students from Year 1-6. Students are engaged in an active program that develops their fundamental movement skills including the skills of body management, locomotion, catching, throwing kicking and hitting as well as game strategy and tactics.
Sport lessons include swimming, volleyball, soccer, netball, football, cricket, cross country and athletics at the school, interschool and State level. All students are provided with the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of sporting activities.
Goal setting, self-reflection, participation, competition, sportsmanship and fun are key elements of engagement for all students. Carnivals provide the context for students to demonstrate these capabilities. Competent students relish the opportunity to represent South Perth Primary School in interschool competitions throughout the year.
The physical education and sport program aims to provide all students with the knowledge and skills to feel confident to engage in sporting activities now and into the future.
